You describe in this article the income tax increases in New Jersey and New York as &quot;temporary&quot;. Tax increases are often passed with such language, but people should be reminded that they only qualify as temporary when they actually expire.  The list of &quot;temporary&quot; taxes that we are still paying goes back as far as the Spanish-American war. The list of temporary taxes (no quotes required) is far shorter.
