Good Works Can Be Good Business

July 21st, 2009

Kudos to The Coleman Company. It’s “doing good,” staying true to what it stands for and building a valuable company.

It’s raising money for Camp Mak-A-Dream, which provides weeklong wilderness experiences for children with cancer. The Coleman Company makes camping equipment. Coleman believes that “spending time in the outdoors benefits body, mind and spirit.”

To raise support for Camp Mak-A-Dream, Coleman Senior Vice President Scott Henrickson ran the Leadville Trail Ultramarathon (100 miles) and attempted to do it in 30 hours. The event was held August 22-23 in Leadville, Colorado. Henrickson says, “I’m hoping that we can help make a difference for a cause that we at Coleman are very passionate about.”

Kudos to Coleman and Hendrickson for finding ways to “do good” while also building a successful company. If only every company had values like this, and found ways to marry the need for marketing with ways to make the world a better place.
